Sue’s work is inspired by surfaces, textures, layers and the natural processes that form them within the landscape. Fracture lines, erosion patterns, fossils, leaf skeletons, tree bark, seed structures …

The coastal geology near Sue’s home in Watchet, West Somerset has been a focus for a number of years. More recently she has developed a new body of work concerned with the forest and the natural cycle of renewal. Sue works mainly in collagraph, using found and recycled materials to create richly-textured plates, printed in earthy colours and often employing chine collé to create additional layers.

Sue received a fine art degree in 2004 from the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham. She is a member of Double Elephant Print Workshop and a director of Contains Art CIC.

The dining room is now the home print studio. It’s always doubled as home studio space but now that @doubleelephantprintworkshop is off limits a more drastic makeover seems necessary and possible - after all I am not going to be giving a dinner party any time soon! #creativelockdown #gottaprintthroughthis #printmaking #westsomersetcreativesclub ...

Aiming to get a little way back into the art-making habit this week. Still tinkering with seaweed, how to dry and press, and looking at rockpool outlines. May end up with some small collagraphs I can print on the tiny tabletop press. #seaweedart #somersetsbrilliantcoast #brilliantcoastart #westsomersetcreativesclub ...

Part of a body of work about ghost fishing nets, lost/dumped/abandoned fishing nets in the environment, made in response to the village of Hallsands, destroyed by the sea. #printmaking #environmentalart #coast ...
